Humans have died at as low as 42 volts. Time is also a factor. A current of 0.1 ampere for a mere 2 seconds can be fatal. As Voltage = Current x Resistance the current depends on body resistance. The internal resistance between the ears is only 100 ohms, while it is around 500 ohms when measured from finger to toe.

It takes between 0.1 and 0.2 amps to kill a human being. Shocks above 0.2 amps are not considered to be lethal because a human can be revived from that voltage if the victim receives immediate medical attention. A current over 0.2 amps is likely to cause severe burns and stop a person's breathing.

200 mA (0.1 to 0.2 amp) are lethal. Currents above 200 milliamps (0.2 amp), while producing severe burns and unconsciousness, do not usually cause death if the victim is given immediate attention. Resuscitation, consisting of artificial respiration, will usually revive the victim.
